Lycos Management Team

The Lycos management team includes a strong group of experienced leaders from a variety of industry backgrounds. Many members of the management team have been working in the Internet industry from its inception, and have demonstrated a proven track record of success. There are a number of key executives who come from high-profile companies with more traditional media industry experience, while others have been with Lycos for more than seven years. Their depth of overall business experience provides Lycos with a strong, agile and talented senior management team that has been instrumental in the company's success.

Kevin Baillie

Kevin Baillie, Chief Financial Officer

Kevin Baillie is responsible for the financial and administrative operations of Lycos including accounting and finance, human resources, management information systems and facilities. Kevin rejoined Lycos in June 2005 as Chief Financial Officer, he previously worked at Lycos from 1998 through 2003, most recently as Corporate Controller. During his previous tenure with Lycos he was responsible for the financial due diligence and integration of a dozen acquisitions including Wired, Quote, Gamesville, Matchmaker and Raging Bull. Kevin was responsible for Lycos' public SEC filings, including a $450 million secondary public offering, as well as the financial accounting and structuring of several international joint ventures and the financial reporting integration of Lycos into Terra Networks as part of their business combination in 2000.

Prior to joining Lycos, Kevin was employed by Ernst & Young LLP from 1991 through 1998, most recently as Manager in the Entrepreneurial Services and Technology groups. While at Ernst & Young, he provided audit and consulting services to both privately held and publicly traded organizations, primarily in the technology and entertainment industries.

Kevin has been a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Massachusetts since 1994. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.


Don Kosak

Don Kosak, Chief Technology Officer

Don Kosak is responsible for Lycos software engineering, integration, operation, and new product development. In 1995, as Director of Research and Development, Don was a co-founder of WiseWire, a collaborative community web site. After Lycos' acquisition of WiseWire in 1998, he ran Lycos' Search and Directories engineering teams. He led the integration of acquired technologies for sites including Tripod, Angelfire, Matchmaker, Quote.Com, Lycos Communities, and Gamesville. He also led the globalization of Lycos Search for Japan and Korea, and Tripod for Europe, Japan, and Korea. He spearheaded the launch of multiple innovative products for the company including HTMLGear.com, Tripod's subscription and Blogging services, Terra's Global Instant Messenger, and Lycos' Connections products. Don was appointed to the Chief Technology Officer position in 2005.

Prior to joining Lycos, Don created information retrieval and expert system applications for Westinghouse, Alcoa, the U.S. Navy, and the U.S. Senate. He is a pioneer in information filtering and Internet communities, with several patents in the field. Additionally, he has served as a Director for the Berkshire Technology Council, and Director of Lycos Labs incubator.


Dan Sullivan

Dan Sullivan, Senior Vice President and General Counsel

Dan Sullivan oversees all legal work of the organization, litigation, antitrust matters and legal policies for day-to-day operations. Dan rejoined Lycos in June, 2005 as Senior Vice President and General Counsel, and brings with him more than 15 years of corporate legal experience working as senior counsel in the areas of M&A and joint ventures.

Dan returns to Lycos following his most recent role as a Principal at Northstar Global Partners. He served as Senior Corporate Counsel at Lycos from May 1998 through August 2004. During his previous time with Lycos, he structured, negotiated, and drafted agreements for 20 of Lycos' merger and acquisition transactions, which ranged in size from $30 million to several billion dollars, and was lead counsel for two of Lycos' U.S public offerings. He also established international joint ventures in connection with the exploitation of Lycos Search service worldwide. He was responsible for securities law compliance and corporate governance, and negotiated equity investments by Lycos and its affiliates in more than 30 start-up transactions and served as the lead lawyer on the creation of a $75 million venture fund that invested in internet-related entities. During his time with Lycos, Dan had extensive international experience, negotiating transactions in China, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, UK, France, Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain, Israel, U.S. and Canada. During the last two years of his prior role at Lycos, he was a resident in Spain.

Prior to Lycos, Dan was Associate General Counsel of Fresenius Medical Care where he was head M&A counsel as well as counsel to the Medical Products Division from 1996 through 1998. He was Corporate Associate specializing in M&A, corporate finance and general corporate matters for Peabody & Brown (now Nixon Peabody, LLP) from 1993 to 1996, and Corporate Associate in the M&A group at Hutchins Wheeler and Dittmar from 1993 to 1996.

Dan has a JD from Columbia University Law School and a BA in Chinese and Asian Studies from Connecticut College.


Charles Ball

Charles Ball, Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Charles Ball joined the senior management team at Lycos in Sept. 2007 overseeing the Ad Sales, Marketing and Business Development units of Lycos, Inc. A seasoned marketing, new media and entertainment executive, Mr. Ball brings to Lycos more than 25 years experience in brand and product marketing, business development, and general management, serving previously in executive marketing roles for Movielink, LLC., Vivendi Universal, Disney/Buena Vista Home Entertainment, and Proctor & Gamble.

Prior to joining Lycos, Mr. Ball most recently served as Chief Marketing Officer of Movielink, a leading downloadable movie web company funded by 5 Major Studios recently acquired by Blockbuster, and later served as SVP of Marketing & Category GM for a privately held Consumer Packaged Goods Company. Prior to that, he worked for a DVD technology company, Flexplay Technologies, Inc., serving as EVP of Studio Relations, responsible for ongoing Marketing/Promotion efforts and relations with major film and gaming studios.

Mr. Ball has also successfully led efforts in venture-backed startup companies as VP of Marketing and Business Development for FasTV.com, searchable video on the web; as Chairman of Mediacentrix, a convergent barter syndication company and as EVP and GM of the Magnitude Network, a provider of Internet Services to Radio Broadcasters.

Mr. Ball holds an MBA Degree from the Darden Graduate School of Business, University of Virginia, and a B.A. in Political Science/Legal Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
