Marketing, New Media Executive Chuck Ball Joins Lycos Team

WALTHAM, Mass. - Sept. 10, 2008 - Lycos, Inc. (http://www.lycos.com), a leading provider of social publishing, media and search services, today announced changes and new appointments within its corporate senior management team in Waltham, Mass.

Chief Financial Officer Kevin Baillie will remain CFO while assuming the role of Chief Operating Officer for Lycos. In his new role, Mr. Baillie adds responsibility for Lycos's existing products including Lycos Search, Gamesville and the Tripod and Angelfire web publishing properties, as well as the company's technology and operational infrastructure. Additionally, marketing and new media veteran Chuck Ball, who joined Lycos as Vice President of Sales and Marketing in September 2007, has been named Chief Marketing and Product Innovation Officer for Lycos. In addition to marketing and sales, Mr. Ball will oversee product innovation including the recently released Lycos Cinema and Webon social publishing platforms.

These changes come as Lycos continues its company strategy focused on three core areas of business: Search, Social Media and Published Communities. Over the past 18 months, Lycos has introduced innovative, first-to-market product offerings including its Lycos Cinema and Webon platforms. Lycos first introduced its patent-pending, synchronous Watch & Interact technology with the launch of Lycos Cinema in 2006 as the Internet's first Community-focused video viewing platform. Relaunched in May 2008, Lycos Cinema now features expanded interactivity and scalability, and utilizes Adobe's latest Flash Server 3 Technology.

Last month, Lycos unveiled Webon, allowing anyone to create dynamic, interactive, social web sites. Webon's use of OpenSocial standards enables users to build sites with several social networking features and import social gadgets created by others. Additionally, Lycos recently relaunched its Gamesville casual gaming site, combining the interactivity of a game show with the popularity of social networking. Wasting Your Time Since 1996™, now in its 12th year, Gamesville is one of the web's friendliest online communities, where users meet and compete to win real cash prizes, for free.

Mr. Baillie rejoined Lycos in June 2005 as Chief Financial Officer, having previously worked at Lycos from 1998 through 2003 as Corporate Controller, responsible for the financial due diligence and integration of a dozen Lycos acquisitions. Mr. Baillie was also responsible for Lycos's public SEC filings, including a $450 million secondary public offering and the financial accounting and structuring of several international joint ventures.

A seasoned marketing, new media and entertainment executive, Mr. Ball brings to Lycos more than 25 years experience in Brand and product marketing, business development, and general management, serving previously in executive management roles for Movielink, LLC., Vivendi Universal, Disney/Buena Vista Home Entertainment, and Proctor & Gamble. Prior to joining Lycos, Mr. Ball most recently served as Chief Marketing Officer of Movielink, a leading downloadable movie web company funded by 5 Major Studios recently acquired by Blockbuster.
